For the home
Somehow I always come back to John Lewis. Especially for white
goods and electricals. It doesn't matter how many other expert specialist
companies there are out there, ultimately John Lewis usually has
what you want and at a good price. Their delivery service is excellent
and for large items they phone in advance to book a good day for
you. Always worth looking here.
Good quality and mostly very plain bedlinen, bath towels etc. They
have branched out into all sorts of things for the home which I
haven't explored yet. Not quite my style. But the basic range is
excellent and not unreasonably priced for 100 per cent Egyptian
cotton (I've checked against other companies). I'm not saying they
are the cheapest but their stuff is good.
Okay so we're getting into tupperware territory here. This is an
excellent company but they do sell some very strange things. It's
worth getting the catalogue just for a look so you can start wondering
who on earth buys free standing bean slicers. But then for every
strange and incredibly specialised item there are ten very useful
ones. Their lock and lock containers are especially good.
A lovely shop to visit but then go online and get it delivered.
We got our pans from here and lots of other useful things like bread
knives, steamers, chopping boards. Everything for the kitchen from
the cheap and friendly to the glorious.
A tile company which is reasonably priced. I'm afraid the tiles
I got here haven't yet made it onto the walls but they were cheaper
than anywhere else and look very nice in the box...
For superior and interesting paint colours, come here. Beautiful
subtle colours in very flat emulsion. I really like the chalkiness
of the paint finish. But they are expensive and the website is a
bit glitchy. Don't buy without getting samples first though as the
reproduction on the net will be dependent on your monitor as much
as the website.
