Clothes

Mini Boden

Ubiquitous I know. And pretty expensive. But very well made of natural materials that last through lots of washes and still look good for the second child. They have lovely patterns but are thoroughly practical. I buy a year ahead in each season's sale. That way I have less panicky shopping when the children grow out of things and I get their excellent trousers for around £12 instead of £22. If you buy online you get email warning of sales in advance which is well worth it as you need to be quick to get the stock.

Green Baby

Lovely clothes and lots of useful equipment. The clothes are for children up to 5 and quite babyish. We got our cot mattress from here and I have bought my reuseable nappies from them in the past but there are cheaper suppliers elsewhere on the net (see below).

Equipment

Blooming Marvellous

A very useful catalogue as they stock all sorts of things for all sorts of ages. But you can often find the same thing a bit cheaper elsewhere or a bit more variety. Their sales are worth looking at and so is their website as they have constant bargains. Also amusing to see what daft ideas parents are supposed to buy - baby wipes warmer, anyone?

The Carrying Kind

Slings - all sorts including those amazing ones which are basically enormous bits of cloth that you wind around yourself until you and your child are mummified together. I got my much easier Huggababy sling which proved invaluable second time around.

Kiddiecare.com

A really really good site. I must have saved at least £100 on various things - buggies, baby monitors, car seats. By all means check out what you want in reality in a shop but always check this site too as they have huge stock and you can save loads. (Thanks to Danny and Liz for putting me onto this one.)

Nappymania

A green nappy site - lots and reasonably priced. There are so many different options now and a lot of good environmentally friendly disposables too (personal favourite are Moltex).

The Natural Baby Resource

Another place to buy your nappies.

Natural Collection

Ditto plus lots of other items for babies, adults, houses, gardens etc.

Smilechild

A select collection of lovely items. We were given a lovely baby rattle in wood from here. Cheap Moltex nappies, nice clothes, toiletries, even party bags and pinatas.

Toys

Woolgar's traditional and wooden toys

A very reasonably priced place to get pegs, bookends, letters, all sorts of toys and all in brightly painted wood.
